Families from across Perth joined us for the January 2017 School Holiday Program in Landsdale. Here are some comments they wanted to share with you:

The FRIENDS Programs were effective and easy to follow

“The tools shown to us are, I think, very simple and easy to use…great ideas that by the end of Day 3 proved to work quite effectively. Our son successfully had a sleepover after multiple unsuccessful attempts prior to the course. This investment will pay for itself over and over.” Family of 4, Carramar

“My girls have found the program beneficial to learning skills to regulate their emotions. The strategies used in the course will be able to be used throughout the years. I have seen their emotional confidence develop over the last week. Thank you.” Family of 3, Landsdale

Support for parents and caregivers

“The FRIENDS Programs came at the right time for our foster daughter who is having problems forming good friendships that can be maintained beyond school. We are hoping she will develop skills that will help her. Our whole family attendance at the course will mean we are all on the same page and can help her with her new knowledge and skills.” Family of 4, Wilagee

“Our family has found Resilience Kit an amazing experience for us all. We are putting the tools learnt into place and are finding we are all calmer.” Family of 4, Carramar

“Very well presented. Useful, current and valuable information. Great group dynamic. Lots in common, has established some positive friendships/relationships. Visual aids good. Presentation and book useful resources.” Family of 4, Thornlie

Visual aids and practical activities reinforced The FRIENDS Programs workbook activities. This meant that parents and caregivers were easily able to follow the skills and strategies learnt by their child and use the resource to generate discussion. Parents and caregivers received a Strong not Tough: Adult Resilience workbook – an easy to read guide to the material covered in session, with blank spaces for reflective exercises including individual goal setting, problem solving, thought challenging and the expression of gratitude.

A confidential and comfortable parallel learning environment

“Great program for the whole family reminding us how important it is to slow down and focus on what it is to be a family. Children enjoyed every part of it and appreciated me attending a parallel parent program. Great hand on, practical ideas for children that are easy to implement in daily life.” Family of 4, Brentwood

Our course trainer (Gemma) was well spoken and showed the knowledge required when presented with questions from the group. She was able to listen to individuals, comments and thoughts and provide excellent ideas with pros and cons to drive the information back with an ease of understanding different concepts. Very happy, money well spent, well done!!” Family of 4, Carramar

“It was very good to do this as a group with other families who may be facing the same challenges. Knowing the concepts that the children are learning is useful as it means we can practice the language and techniques together as a family. We learnt new skills, knowledge and techniques. Our son also made new friends and so did we.” Family of 3, Wattle Grove
